Item no.: 1:35 Semovente L 40 47/32
The L40 self-propelled gun was developed on the basis of the L6/40 light tank in order to provide the Royal Army's fast corps with an armoured vehicle that could provide the necessary artillery support and be used as a tank destroyer. Based on the design of the L6/40 tank, the turret was removed and the 47/32 Mod. 1935 anti-tank gun was installed in an open casemate, similar to the "M" series tanks. The self-propelled gun was characterised by its small size, the armouring with plates and rivets typical of Italian production and a crew of only two men. Although its performance was no longer sufficient to combat enemy armoured vehicles, it was used by the Royal Army in Libya, Tunisia and in the Italian campaign during the Second World War. After the armistice, some examples were used in the second line of the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe ground forces.
