COBI-5740 - 'HC WWII /5740/ KAWASAKI KI-61-HIEN, 350 parts, from 7 years onwards
KAWASAKI KI-61 (Japanese "Flying Swallow"), Japanese fighter aircraft from the Second World War. The Americans initially suspected that the aircraft was a copy of the Italian design and gave it the nickname "Tony", indicating Italian roots. The official Japanese name is "Army Fighter Model 3". Over 3,000 copies were produced. It was first encountered by US airmen over Yokohama harbour during the Doolittle raid on 18 April 1942.
The Kawasaki aircraft was constructed from COBI building blocks in 1:32 scale using new elements. The model features many movable elements such as a rotating propeller, movable wing ailerons or wheels with rubber tyres that can be folded into a horizontal position. The details and historic colours of the aircraft have been recreated. The cockpit can be opened to put the pilot figure with its characteristic headband in the seat! Thanks to a special display stand with a sign with the name of the plane, the whole set looks great! The model uses durable prints and historical markings.
