Tugboat – 169 Components
Models of ships have always had a strong appeal to young and old. Therefore, it is not surprising that the tugboat from Ugears is one of the most popular items in the range of the manufacturer of high-quality mechanical models made of wood. The boat consists of 169 parts. To assemble it, you will need about 2 – 3 hours.
Already at first glance you will see that the boat is a replica of a typical tugboat, as it is used in any major port. The deck superstructures are reproduced in detail. The special feature of the model, however, is the drive. It is powered by a rubber band motor. This transfers its energy to a drive wheel. With the rubber band motor fully tensioned, the model can travel 1.5 – 3 m, depending on the surface. An asymmetrical pair of wheels rotates, creating rocking motions of the harbor tug that imitate the rocking of a ship in waves. At the same time, a working pendulum produces a sound very similar to that of a ship’s diesel engine. This makes the Ugears model almost perfect.
