The 1:48 scale floor model is a replica of the German SS-100 tractor, which was a real workhorse for the German armed forces during the Second World War. The SS-100 was powered by a 100 hp diesel engine and was based on a civilian vehicle design.

The tractor was capable of towing loads of up to 20 tonnes and was thus used to haul all kinds of objects. This included artillery pieces, aircraft, V2 rockets as well as the recovery of broken down vehicles. The TAMIYA model kit version impresses with its accuracy of fit as well as its attention to detail.
