The standing model is a replica of the French infantry unit during the Second World War. The French army was quickly defeated by the German armies in 1940. However, several units managed to evade capture and were repaired in the United Kingdom. Under the leadership of General De Gaulle, the Free French Forces were quickly formed to help the Allies in the war against the Third Reich. In 1944, these forces were able to re-engage against German forces on both the Italian and Norman fronts after D-Day, contributing until the final victory against Germany.
