On 19 March 1989, more than 30 years ago, a new chapter in the history of aviation began. An unusual machine – a test tiltrotor – took to the skies for the first time. A fascinating and futuristic combination of helicopter and aircraft. Known as the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey, the tiltrotor is the first multi-role aircraft for short take-offs and landings. It owes its exceptional characteristics to its rotating propulsion system. Engine nacelles with rotors 12 metres in diameter can rotate during flight. Thanks to this solution, the aircraft can take off and land like a helicopter and switch to horizontal flight after changing the position of the engines. The rotation of the drive nacelles by 45 degrees enables both short take-offs and landings, similar to STOL aircraft. The Osprey was jointly developed by Bell Helicopter Textron, which manufactures the wings, engine nacelles with Rolls Royce engines, rotors, propulsion system, tail control surfaces and loading ramp, and the Boeing Company, which manufactures the fuselage, cockpit, avionics and controls. The Ospreye manufacturer is called Bell-Boeing. Because of its exceptional characteristics, the V-22 Osprey found its way into the equipment of the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy and other services with the exception of the US Army.

The model of the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey was released under licence from the American manufacturer of combat helicopters, Bell Helicopter Textron. Developed in 1/48 scale to match the rest of the Armed Forces collection, the model consists of 1,136 elements and includes two figures representing the first test pilots in distinctive uniforms. The length of the model is 390 mm, the width 500 mm! Completely new elements have been developed for the set, making the model even more detailed! Numerous detailed prints capture the look of the distinctive test livery. The main functionalities of the model are the drive nacelles adjustable in different positions, rotating rotor blades, opening cabin doors with stairs, access to the cockpit and the possibility to place figures there, and an opening tailgate.
The whole set is completed by a black reinforced block base with double supports and a black plate with the name of the set and the Bell logo.

This amazing tiltrotor/rotator is the perfect set for collectors, fans of military, aviation and history. Beautiful historical painting and an appealing way of presentation make the model look very impressive!
