2747 PCS TRAINS 6286 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE DR BR 03 WATER CRANE EXECUTIVE EDITION

The "Trains" collection is getting a new strong player! It is the BR03 steam locomotive in the Executive Edition version, consisting of 2,721 elements, enriched with figures and a water crane. The powerful express locomotive used to pull heavy passenger trains and accelerate them to a dizzying speed of 120 kilometres per hour. Today, it can take your breath away and add some self-esteem to any railway fan's collection!

The model released by COBI is BR03 273. The locomotive measures just under 70 centimetres and consists of around 2,700 elements. The new large wheels for express locomotives immediately catch the eye. The steam locomotive has all the important moulds of its original model. The durable construction makes the locomotive heavy, but at the same time it functions perfectly. The system of rotating cogwheels in the frame ensures that the wheels, which are connected to the steam piston via struts, turn just like a real locomotive. The interesting design features include: a replica driver's cab with chimney, throttle lever and other elements important for controlling the locomotive as well as a smoke chamber that can be opened. The locomotive is equipped with a block tender, which is required to drive the steam locomotive. The actual tender of the BR03 locomotive held 32 cubic metres of water and 10 tonnes of coal. The block tender is manufactured in an interesting way, as it has a removable carbon load. This means that our tender can either be empty or loaded to the brim with coal. The model has detailed imprints with the markings of the locomotive, the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the necessary technical tables.
In the Executive Edition version we get special figures: an engine driver in classic railway uniform, a station master with a belt and a coalition woman with a red cap as well as a smoker with a bare upper body, a simple railway loading wagon with a shovel in his hand. In addition, we get a block display base showing a fragment of track with an embankment and the name of the set, as well as a water crane. The crane is necessary for the continuous watering of the steam locomotive and was therefore located at every station in the past.

Class 03 locomotives were built between 1930 and 1938 as express locomotives on lines with a maximum axle load of 18 tonnes. 298 of these locomotives, whose design was based on the class 01 locomotive, were manufactured by Borsig, Krupp, Henschel and Schwartzkopff. Locomotives of this type ran the most luxurious and prestigious express trains. They were also part of several special trains, including: "America." After the war, BR03 locomotives were delivered to West Germany, East Germany and the People's Republic of Poland.
