Product Description

In 1640 AD, the demon lord Asmodaeus rose up in the Black Forest. Since then, nothing has been the same as it once was, for horrors from myths and fairy tales are appearing all over the world and threatening humanity. Witches, werewolves, vampires and demons are only the best-known of these creatures.

93 years later, a new generation of courageous heroes has grown up, called hunters, who confront the sinister threat. Armed with muskets and swords and equipped with holy zeal, they penetrate dark castles of vampires, smoke out ritual chambers of black magicians and thwart cunning revenge plans of devious witches.

But in the world of HeXXen 1733 there is another kind of hunter. So-called parazoologists leave the safety of their universities to capture the less intelligent creatures, study them and exhibit them in menageries. They too fight against the hosts of hell, but not only with courage and determination, but also with the methods of science.

The novel Totenhunger tells the story of three paracoolologists who set out from the University of Jena to hunt monsters. In the process, they encounter their biggest challenge yet: a cannibalistic monster is on the loose in the hinterland of Jena. While the paracoolologists are still working flat out to identify the monster, events are also coming to a head in Jena. The parazoologists are targeted by a murder investigation and must not only follow the tracks of wild creatures in the woods, but also outwit entirely human enemies.

With Totenhunger, author Nina Schwenzl has written a novel that combines all the characteristics of a story set in the world of HeXXen 1733: action and horror, spiced with a pinch of history and a good dash of humour.
