70265 - Book of secrets
Product description
Simply lock away secret notes, valuable treasures or other personal items with the Book of Secrets and keep them away from prying eyes. This wonderful 3D wooden puzzle is a steampunk casket in the shape of a book with a combination lock, a secret compartment, a multi-step opening process and a fantastic mechanism. You open your book of secrets by entering a three-digit combination into the spine of the book to unlock the secret key. Insert the key into the special slot and turn it anti-clockwise to activate the opening mechanism. Then turn the cogwheels anti-clockwise and finally open the book. Several windows on the box will show you whether you have carried out the individual steps correctly. This mechanical 3D secret box with its complex opening sequence is full of mysteries and is both a fun way to store things and a fun game where you can challenge friends and family to solve the puzzles of the Book of Secrets. For the first time in the history of Ugears, we have used two colours of plywood (dark and light) to make this model even more special for you.
Practically since their invention, books have been used to hide things in, both in reality and in fiction. Homeowners can hide valuables from thieves by hollowing out a book and then putting it back on the shelf with other volumes. The homeowners will quickly find the secret book again, but it is practically impossible for the burglar. In the film "Matrix", Neo hides disks and cash in a book. And who doesn't remember the prison break in "The Shawshank Redemption", which was carried out with the help of a geologist's hammer hidden in a Bible that had been hollowed out from the book "Exodus". We all love puzzles and riddles, and this Ugears Book of Secrets is just that: a great puzzle with a series of puzzles that must be solved to open the secret compartment and see what's inside!
You can set any three-digit number combination on your Book of Secrets by removing the pin block inside the secret compartment. Turn the discs to the desired combination and reinsert the pin block. The unlocking mechanism of the key now works with the number combination you have set. When you press the lever at the bottom of the spine, the key falls out of its slot at the top of the spine. The lever does not eject the key if the three rollers are configured with a different sequence of digits. You can change the three-digit number combination at any time. To do this, follow the same steps - open the 3D wooden box, remove the pin block, change the combination, reinsert the pin block; the ejector mechanism of the key is then configured to the new number combination.
Forgot the number combination? Oh dear, what now? Don't worry, our design and technology team has thought of everything. There are two different ways to access the contents of the box without the number combination. You can open the Book of Secrets by simply removing the back panel - insert a flat tool, such as a screwdriver or metal ruler, into the slot between the back panel and the box. Then carefully prise at various points to lift and remove the panel and gain access to the box. Now you can change the number combination to a three-digit code, which is easier to remember. But you can also play safecracker and find out the combination by touching it. Press the eject lever for the key with your finger and hold it with light pressure, then turn the rollers one after the other. You will feel how the correct number on each roller is slightly more difficult to turn than the others. The lever will also move slightly under your finger as the correct digit slides into position. When the last roller is on the correct number, the display on the spine changes from "closed" to "open" - the key release is now activated.
