The NASA Saturn V rocket holds several records: it is the highest, the most powerful and the heaviest launch vehicle for transporting payloads ever built. It is also the only rocket to have taken humans beyond low Earth orbit. There have been a total of thirteen successful missions with Saturn V rockets: 12 Apollo missions and the launch of Skylab (the first US space station) into low Earth orbit. The Saturn V had a height of 110.64 metres (higher than the Statue of Liberty), a diameter of 10.06 metres and a weight of 2.95 million kg (when fully fuelled) and had three different stages, which were ignited separately one after the other during the flight. Stages one and two each comprised five engines, stage three one. All three stages used liquid propellant (stage one RP-1, the other two liquid hydrogen) mixed with liquid oxygen (LOX) as an oxidising agent.
