Product Description
Mill
One of the oldest board games in the world
The principle of placing three stones in a row to capture an opponent's stone has been known in Europe since the Bronze Age.
An almost 4,000-year-old illustration of a mill board was found in a burial ground in Ireland.
Confucius also reported on the game "Yih" in ancient China.
Game boards from the 15th century were found in Arabia.
In Germany, the "Nine Men's Mill" is the best known. The game board consists of three concentric squares, each connected by lines in the centre.
There are also the small mill, the round mill and the twelve mill.
The course of the game is divided into 3 phases - the opening, the middle game and the end game.
In the opening, both players take turns placing their pieces.
During the middle game, the players move. Whenever a player's own mill is closed, an opponent's piece may be removed from the board.
The endgame begins when one player has only 3 pieces left. This player may then also jump.
