1:350 JPN heavy cruiser Chikuma
Item no.: 300078027
Item description: 1:350 Japanese heavy cruiser Chikuma
The stand model is a replica of the Japanese heavy cruiser Chikuma, which was the last cruiser built during the Second World War and was the second ship of the sound class to be produced in 1939. Due to its design, a maximum speed of 35 knots and a long range were possible. During the Pearl Harbor attack in December 1941, her seaplanes conducted pre-attack reconnaissance over Pearl Harbor, which contributed significantly to the IJN's success in the operation. During the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944, she was the flagship of Admiral Kurita's fleet and contributed to the sinking of the USS Gambier Bay, but was damaged by torpedoes and sunk off the coast of Samar Island.
