Summoned characters can be used to help players in difficult boss fights. Each Summoner has a unique personality. Some will steadfastly block attacks, while others will stand back and hurl spells at enemies.

The Invaders are less altruistic than Summoned and will cause hardship to players' efforts to combat the denizens of Dark Souls™.
