COBI-3114 - 300 PCS 'HC WWII /3114/ KUBU?
Kubuś is a Polish improvised armoured car built by Warsaw insurgents in August 1944 during the Warsaw Uprising. This vehicle was built in just a few days in the workshop at ul. It was built from the chassis of a Chevrolet 157 lorry and steel sheets to protect the crew from enemy fire. Kubuś, armed with machine guns, took part in several combat operations, including an unsuccessful attack on the University of Warsaw. After the end of the uprising, Kubuś miraculously survived the war and is currently on display at the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw as a symbol of the courage and ingenuity of the Warsaw insurgents!
Together with the Polish Army Museum, we have decided to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising! We have prepared a unique set of bricks with the legendary insurgent car "Kubuś"! The 1:35 scale model made of bricks contains prints and all the key features of the original, which is kept in the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw. We have not forgotten such a little-known detail as the Otter Motor Column emblem on the bumper! Our model is equipped with a DP-28 machine gun. The top hatch can be opened to place a figure inside. Not everyone knows that Kubuś could be entered through a hole in the floor! We have marked this unusual entrance in the model! The set includes two figures representing Warsaw insurgents. We presented one soldier of the Wydra Motor Column, which belonged to the Krybar group, in a grey overall, with a white and red armband on his right arm, an "Otter" patch on his left arm and a blue cap. The second soldier belonged to the "Rafałki" platoon. What distinguished them from other formations was the use of yellow triangular pennants with a skull and crossbones as the emblem of the German pioneers, which marked a mined or chemically contaminated area. This symbol can be found on the soldier's left shoulder. The letter "R", characteristic of this formation, is painted in white on the side of the helmet. Both figures are equipped with accessories such as a STEN submachine gun, a Bren light machine gun, a hand grenade and a mine. The set also includes a bottle and a piece of barbed wire.
The Warsaw Uprising broke out on 1 August 1944 and lasted until 3 October. It was an armed action by the Polish resistance movement, mainly the Home Army, against the German troops occupying Warsaw. The aim of the uprising was to liberate the capital before the invasion of the Red Army in order to secure Poland's sovereignty after the war. Despite initial successes, the insurgents were unable to hold their positions in the face of the overpowering German forces and the lack of sufficient help from outside. After 63 days of fierce fighting, the uprising was crushed. Around 16,000 insurgents and some 150-200,000 civilians died and the city was almost completely destroyed. The Warsaw Uprising remains a symbol of Polish heroism and patriotism.
