COBI-2807 - 8000 PCS HCWWII 2807Pz.Kpfw. VI TIGER 2 in 1 scale 1:12 Executive Edition
Pz.Kpfw. VI "Tiger" with the side number 221, which is located in the Musée des Blindés in Saumur, France, is one of the museum's most valuable exhibits. Tiger tanks were among the most famous and dangerous armoured vehicles used by Germany during the Second World War. They were known for their powerful armament, especially the 88 mm gun, and their thick, well-sloped armoured shield. This particular example, number 221, is one of the few surviving examples in the world, making it extremely valuable both historically and technologically. This tank took part in the battles on the Eastern Front and was later taken over by the Allied troops. It is carefully preserved in the Saumur Museum and visitors can admire it in one of the hangars where other historic armoured vehicles are on display.
The new Tiger with the side number "221" declassified its predecessor with the number "131". The new Tiger has a completely new camouflage that will appeal to every armoured weapon fan. Why? It is universal and therefore fits perfectly into the reality of the 1944 front in the east, west or south. The new tank has an improved chassis and the complete undercarriage. We're not talking about new wheels specifically designed for this set, but about replacing the torsion bars, which are now more durable and resistant to the weight of this colossus. We have also made many minor and major changes that are typical of the late E version. The best example is the change to the commander's hatch. It is smaller and has an MG34 machine gun on its side, which is designed for anti-aircraft fire.
With 8,000 parts and generous dimensions, this set is in a class of its own. When folded, the Tiger 211 is just under 70 cm long and weighs just under 6 kilograms. This impressive result is still not enough. The new standard is set by a carefully reproduced interior, excellent exterior design, completely new elements and great functionalities. The interior of the tank is detailed in every part, from the ammunition compartment to the main gun, buttons, switches and knobs to the incredibly photorealistic engine. The Maybach HL230 engine itself has been modelled down to the smallest detail with 300 elements and could be released as a separate set. Just a reminder that some aircraft in the Historical Collection range have 300 elements and in our new Tiger you can only build the engine from that many blocks! The exterior also raises the bar in terms of accuracy of proportions and detail that only a set of this size can offer. The set also includes many completely new and movable elements. Such as the rotating turret, the movable cannon and the opening hatches. The wheels and chains work just like in the original museum model! Although we at COBI have done similar things for other tanks (especially in 1:28 scale), the "211" Tiger, together with its predecessor with the number "131", represents a new level of design, photorealism and impressive size and precision.
Of course, this is another milestone for us at COBI. The set we are pleased to announce was developed in collaboration with the Musée des Blindés in Saumur. We hope that COBI collectors and fans alike will have as much fun building and displaying "221" as we had designing and creating it. For anyone who loves tanks, military technology and history, this is an opportunity to take a big piece of that history home with you. Build history too, brick by brick!
