56004392A - 1:32 Twin Pack Swedish GP 1978 HD
The 1978 Swedish Grand Prix was the debut and only race of one of the most outlandish ideas in Formula One history. The Brabham BT 46B 'Fan Car' took a standard BT 46 flat-12 powered by Alfa Romeo and added a large fan to the rear of the car, drawing air through the engine's water cooler, before utilising an even more effective version of the ground effect pioneered by the Lotus 79 to create a vacuum under the car. This created a huge amount of downforce, allowing Niki Lauda to pull away right at the start of the race. After the race, the car was confirmed as legal but removed by Brabham so that owner Bernie Ecclestone could avoid a confrontation with other team owners. Designer Gordon Murray designed numerous race and championship cars. Today, the fan car is an important legacy of one of the most innovative periods in F1 history and perfectly matches the otherwise dominant Lotus 79. Thanks to the Twin Pack of the 1978 Swedish Grand Prix, you can now recreate this spectacular race at home.
