70203 - Tyrannosaurus Rex, wooden model, 249 parts
Ugears launches its dinosaur automaton collection with the most fearsome predator. This DIY mechanical wooden model of a walking tyrannosaur is powered by a metal spring that transmits power through a reduction gear and turns the axle that drives the legs. An ingenious system of joints and connections enables this king of the dinosaurs to walk on its own legs - the first two-legged walker in the Ugears collection! An eccentric gear system sets the tail in synchronised motion with the legs and helps the dinosaur to keep its balance and not fall sideways as in nature. This dinosaur model is a wind-up DIY wooden model of an adult Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The tip of the tail hides the winding key. Remove the key and insert it into the ratchet mechanism on the left side of the dinosaur. Make sure that the head of the left femur is clear of the opening. Turn the on/off switch to the "off" position (towards the head) and turn the mechanism clockwise half a dozen times, returning the key to its position between the tail and body. Place the Tyrannosaurus on a smooth, flat surface, hold the automaton by the body, flip the on switch and release!
