Product Description

The aircraft carrier AKAGI was one of the most important ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Second World War. It was part of the Japanese Navy's 1st Air Fleet. Akagi was one of six aircraft carriers that took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, which triggered the war in the Pacific. It also took part in the Battle of Midway, where it was sunk by American aircraft in June 1942. Its sinking was a decisive moment that had an unfavourable impact on the further course of the war for Japan.

The ship model created by COBI was produced on a scale of 1:300. It consists of 3,573 elements and is 87 cm long. Thanks to the use of the latest available elements and advanced construction techniques, the model reflects the proportions of the historic ship as faithfully as possible and retains all the important elements. A very interesting design solution are two movable aircraft lifts that we can raise and lower. The Akagi aircraft carrier has numerous moving parts such as propellers, rudders, rotating turrets and gun barrels that can be raised and lowered. On the deck of the aircraft carrier, we can place 5 colourful mini-planes with imprints, which are included in the set! The set also includes a very sturdy and aesthetic black display stand with a plate on which the name and scale of the ship are printed.

We recommend this large model especially to experienced collectors and fans of building blocks who are not afraid of hours of building! The ship does not need to be glued or painted, as its entire body and all elements are made of COBI bricks with imprints. Thanks to the intuitive step-by-step instructions, the building process is simple and transparent. With over 3,500 elements, we guarantee a construction process lasting several hours with a truly spectacular effect!
