1170 HC WWII /2590/ IS-3 SOVIET HEAVY TANK

The IS-3 tank was presented to the public for the first time during the victory parade in Berlin on 7 September 1945. The mighty heavy tank, which had been in production since April 1945, was intended to terrify the Western Allies. A steel colossus weighing over 45 tonnes with heavily inclined armour plates that improved the ricocheting of bullets. It was equipped with the 122 mm D-25T cannon familiar from the IS-2 tank. Despite its impressive weight, the IS-3 was relatively mobile thanks to its W-11 diesel engine.

The IS-3 tank was designed in 1:28 scale and imitates the highly characteristic rounded shapes of its original. The model, which consists of over 1,100 elements, is 35.5 cm long when built. There are reproduced interior elements under the removable turret with basket. A replica of the W-11 armoured engine can be placed under the maintenance hatch. Clamping blocks with printed periscopes are also attached to the turret. The very difficult shapes of the tank have been reproduced with the latest elements created for the COBI Historical Collection! The chain traction works when the tank is moved. The turret rotates and the barrel raises and lowers! The set includes a figure of a Soviet tank driver in a characteristic navy blue suit.

The real IS-3 tank was developed in response to German heavy tanks. The model made of clamp bricks looks great on a shelf next to the largest German and American vehicles from the COBI Historical Collection!
