Product Description

A set with a model of the German steam locomotive DR BR 52 / Ty2 steam locomotive from the Second World War made from clamp building blocks. The construction of the building blocks faithfully reproduces the shape, proportions and details of the legendary steam locomotive, which is probably the most popular and best known to all railway enthusiasts in the world. The exclusive 2-in-1 edition contains two different sets of additional building blocks with which you can build a model of the German DR BR 52 locomotive with German markings from the Second World War period or a locomotive with Polish markings from the Polish State Railways from the post-war Polish People's Republic period. In addition to various building blocks with different symbols, numbers and markings, the set also contains modified, larger front and rear lights for the Polish design, selected building blocks in different colours and two different figures: a German engine driver from the Second World War and a stoker.

The set includes a beautiful building block semaphore with lots of imprints! A railway semaphore is a signalling device used in rail transport to provide drivers with information about the condition of the tracks and the permitted running of the train. Semaphores are a key element of the railway safety system as they help to prevent collisions and regulate train traffic.

The 1:35 scale locomotive model features detailed details such as symbols, numbering and markings as well as numerous additional "clock" imprints in the engine room of the locomotive. The easily removable roof of the engine room allows you to look inside and see original details of the drive units. We have also taken care of a detail such as the imitation of burning coal in the chimney!

Just like a real steam locomotive, the entire wheel mechanism is coupled together so that it moves simultaneously. Inside the model are cogwheels that form a complex mechanism that ensures realistic movement of the wheels and the entire drive. Simply press gently on the model to move the entire system.

Five different wheel designs of the locomotive, some with rants, i.e. special edges, ensure that the model lies well on block tracks and can also negotiate block curves with an inclination of R88 or more. It is worth mentioning that the model is fully compatible, i.e. it fits on block tracks from other terminal block manufacturers.

The tender, a wagon for transporting coal, among other things, is also a faithful replica of the real prototype. There is a replica fuel composition inside. It also has bogies and a special coupling to which further wagons can be attached to form a complete train.

The version of the locomotive with semaphore also includes a special exhibition base to be built from terminal blocks, which imitates a railway embankment, and a sign with the name of the locomotive, with a choice of German BR 52 and Polish Ty2.

COBI also produced its own terminal blocks, which imitate part of the track. The set contains five such pieces of track with a total length of approx. 65 cm. The track is produced using modern two-colour injection moulding technology, which means that each individual section with a length of approx. 13 cm is a single element - a monolith - and consists of two different coloured materials that are joined together. The grey steel rails stand out clearly from the very realistically manufactured brown railway sleepers. There are no visible studs on each sleeper, which increases their realism, and each of them is covered with a board structure, i.e. an imitation of wood grain. The tracks can be attached to building boards and have a technical hole that allows the tracks to be permanently attached to the railway diorama, e.g. with a screw or nail.

This set is the perfect gift for any history and railway enthusiast.

Build history, brick by brick!

BR 52 or Ty2 or Ty42 is a freight steam locomotive of German design that was produced in many European factories in the years 1942-1945. It was a very inexpensive, simple and at the same time very reliable steam locomotive. In Poland, over one thousand two hundred of these vehicles were used in the Polish State Railways after the Second World War. The locomotive could pull goods trains with a total weight of up to 620 tonnes at a speed of 80 km/h or 1,700 tonnes at a speed of 50 km/h. This steam locomotive was also used several times to pull passenger trains.
