The triqueta, the knot of three, symbolises the connection of three things. In the family game of the same name, this is symbolised by wooden animal pieces that have to be placed together to form trios. The decisive factor here is that only one triqueta may exist for each of the six animal species. However, if the balance is disturbed by additional pieces of the same animal species, the players receive minus points.
In each of the four rounds, the players can decide whether to draw or reveal new animal pieces or take a row of animals already on display and exit the round. The aim is to find the right moment to grab the most lucrative row before one of the other players snatches it away. Whoever manages to place as many triquetas as possible with the right timing and has no surplus animals will win the game.
The Triqueta 2nd Edition also includes the Hidden Wolves expansion. It not only introduces a new variant for two players, but also friendly but shy wolves. They hide in the shadows until the end of the game and are worth a lot of points as Triqueta. However, the shadow animal tiles also include animals of every other species. If you can strike the right balance between taking risks and planning ahead, you can use the wolves to score points.
