Namiji, board game, for 2-5 players, from 10 years (DE edition)
In Namiji, the independent successor to Tokaido, the players take on the roles of people in ancient Japan who earn their living by fishing in the southern Japanese archipelago. Their goal is to experience the most profitable and at the same time the most eventful journey possible along the Japanese coast. In keeping with the theme, mystical elements play a role alongside magnificent sea creatures and colourful fish, for example offerings made of paper to appease the sea spirits.
In Namiji, there is no fixed order for the players. It is the turn of the person whose boat is furthest back on the sea route. Only one boat may be placed on each square and moving backwards is not allowed. The squares represent stations on the journey that trigger different immediate effects. For example, fish and crustaceans can be fished here, but also sacrifices can be made or spectacular panoramas can be discovered. The harbour stations, on the other hand, offer time for a pleasant rest before the journey continues.
The journey into the Zen universe of Namiji takes about an hour, during which the players are transported directly to Japan thanks to 60 thematically illustrated panorama cards.
