300 years ago, on the slope of the volcanic mountain called Hvitrs Horn, there was a monastery and an associated village called Kaldhammar ("cold slope"). The monks consecrated to Hvitr, called Kaldbrud, kept a number of important documents and artifacts there. Mainly, however, they were portal guardians, because Hvitr's Horn is an active volcano and as such a gateway to Ellorasch, the elemental plane of fire. Kaldhammar went under when Hvitr's horn broke out and the searing host of Ellorasch spat out. Hvitr himself descended from heaven to stop them and seal the plains gate with his huge two-handed hammer. However, he could not prevent the Elloraschi from drowning the monastery, the village and all its inhabitants in a flood of lava. Despite these cataclysmic events, the catacombs below the monastery - the network of tunnels between tombs, libraries and vaults - remained largely unscathed ...
Servants of the Ash Queen is the translation of the adventure by Jason Lutes with the illustrations by Keny Widjaja. The adventure is written in such a way that it harmonizes with the principles of Dungeon World: Instead of being particularly straightforward, the adventure rather describes an exciting setting with special moves and areas. At the beginning various questions are suggested as to why clerics, barbarians or druids set out on this adventure. There are also new monsters and of course special treasures that can be found in the ruins.
