Product information
The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was developed in the second half of the 1930s to provide the Luftwaffe with a twin-engined heavy fighter aircraft that could be used as a fighter, tactical bomber and close support aircraft for long-range multi-role missions. The Messerschmitt Bf 110 G was put into service in May 1942 and was characterised by the use of two 1475 hp Daimler Benz DB 605 engines compared to earlier versions. With the new engines, a speed of 595 km/h could be achieved. The G-4 version in particular took on the role of a heavy night fighter with the task of countering Allied bomber attacks over the skies of Germany. Heavily armed, as two MK 108 30 mm guns could be installed under the fuselage. In addition, the introduction of the FuG202 radar, optimised for night fighters, made it a formidable opponent to the British Lancaster bombers or the American B-17 "Flying Fortress".
