The Hotshot II was first introduced by Tamiya in 1987. It was the successor to the first Tamiya 4WD buggy 58047 Hotshot from 1985 and the 58054 Supershot.
The Hotshot impressed with its weight-optimised design, which was achieved by using plastic parts instead of metal. This made the buggy particularly agile and stable at the same time.
