Product Description
The GMC 2 ½-tonne truck was built in very large numbers and can be regarded as the backbone of the US Army's logistics during the Second World War. It was characterised by a very robust and reliable design which, thanks to the six-wheel drive and effective suspension, had its strength in good off-road mobility and was produced in numerous variants. In addition to the usual "cargo" versions with open or closed cab, "long wheelbase" and "short wheelbase", configurations were also developed for more specific and selective missions, some of which were produced directly "on site". It played a crucial role in meeting the high logistical needs in the initial phase of the Normandy landings, transporting and moving impressive quantities of troops and material.
