Product Description
The Toyota Celica LB Turbo is a Group 5 car developed for the 1977 German Racing Car Championship (DRM). Based on the commercially available Celica Liftback 2000GT, aerodynamic parts such as boldly protruding wings and a large rear wing were installed and most of the body parts were changed to lightweight FRP. The weight of the vehicle is 860 kg. This body was modified to such an extent that it no longer retained its original shape and is fitted with a Toyota inline 4-cylinder turbo engine tuned by Schnitzer, a company known as a tuner for BMW and other vehicles. Displacement was increased to 2090cc, 4 valves were fitted and a mechanical fuel injection system and KKK turbocharger were installed to produce a massive 560bhp. The car made its debut at the 8th DRM GP in Hockenheim in 1977 and took its first victory at the race in Zolder, Belgium, in October of the same year, beating the ever-winning Porsche 935. As a silhouette car, the Celica attracted a lot of attention. Born in Japan and raised in Germany.
