Product Description
The Boeing E/A-18 G Growler was developed to fulfil a specific requirement of the US Navy: to have a specialist electronic warfare aircraft available to replace the Grumman EA-6B Prowler, which was outdated in terms of both avionics and performance. The Growler is directly derived from the F/A-18 F Super Hornet two-seat fighter aircraft, whose aerodynamic characteristics it largely retains. The two General Electric engines give the Growler a top speed of Mach 1.8 and a performance commensurate with the aircraft it is intended to support. The crew consists of the pilot and, in tandem, the WSO (Weapon System Officer). Unlike the F/A-18, it is not equipped with a cannon, but can carry radar jamming and electronic warfare systems, additional tanks, chaff and tracer rounds as well as AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles in its underwing pylons.
