Product Description

The 1:35 scale model consists of 72 COBI bricks and faithfully reproduces the characteristic shapes of the original Trabant 601. The car has been developed in a new light blue brick colour that is even closer to the iconic original! The car has rotating wheels with tyres that are perfect for moving the model during play. We have dispensed with stickers in our sets! They have been replaced with long-lasting decals that won't wear off even with intensive play.
The model made of bricks is a product for both discerning collectors and young classic car enthusiasts! Thanks to the simple and intuitive instructions, assembly is easy and won't cause anyone any problems!
Trabant is a brand of car manufactured in the GDR at the Zwickau plant of VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke. The 601 model was launched in 1964 and was produced until 1990. The De Luxe version was developed in 1967. Trabant vehicles were characterised by several technically interesting solutions. These included: Bodies made of a plastic material called Duroplast. It had a similar melting point to aluminium and increased the car's resistance to corrosion and pressure. Other notable solutions include a small two-stroke engine, large windows and a relatively spacious interior. The car reached a dizzying speed of just over 100 km/h.
The Trabant can rightly be described as a cult car of the German Democratic Republic. To this day, it is a recognisable and extremely popular classic among car enthusiasts. It has also become an integral part of popular culture.
