Product Description

The Elefant was a heavy armoured gun/tank destroyer used by the Germans in the Second World War. The vehicle is still very popular and recognisable among history and military technology fans! The building block model of this very famous vehicle from the Second World War was designed on a scale of 1:28 from 1,252 elements and is 28.5 cm long. The building blocks and the figure contain high-quality prints. You won't find any stickers here! The model's functions include: a removable replica of the engine made of clamping bricks, functioning chain traction, a cannon that can be moved vertically and horizontally, replica interior elements and hatches that can be opened. The set also includes a detailed figure of a vehicle crew member with accessories such as a machine gun and a canister. The entire set is complemented by a sign with the vehicle name printed on it. A detailed and very large model of a heavy tank destroyer is a must for collectors and history buffs.

The first version of the German heavy tank destroyer was named Ferdinand after its designer, Ferdinand Porsche. A slightly improved version of this vehicle, equipped with, among other things: A machine gun at the front and a commander's cupola, it was named Elefant. COBI has prepared both versions!
The Tiger (P) Elefant tank destroyer was designed on the chassis of the Tiger I tank. Series production began in 1943, initially under the name Ferdinand. Ferdinands took part in battles on the Eastern Front, including the Battle of Kursk. The tank destroyers were armed with the powerful 88 mm PaK 43/2 L/71 anti-tank gun, which made them effective against almost all enemy vehicles. Thick armour provided good protection for the vehicle. Despite its impressive statistics, Ferdinand also had some disadvantages. These included limited mobility, engine and suspension failures and vulnerability to infantry attacks. After the Battle of Kursk, the 48 remaining vehicles were modernised and renamed Elefant. Among other things, additional armour, a machine gun at the front and a commander's cupola were added. The Elefant was one of the most powerful German vehicles to appear on the battlefield during the Second World War. However, its role in the war was limited due to the low production of this model. This vehicle still captures the imagination of history and military technology enthusiasts. It is also one of the most recognisable vehicles from the Second World War. Build history, brick by brick!
