Model kit, 1:72 AMX Ghibli
The AMX "Ghibli" single-engine ground attack aircraft is the result of co-operation between the Italian and Brazilian aircraft industries. The project was launched in the 1980s to replace the obsolete Fiat G-91Y fighter-bombers in the flight departments of the Italian Air Force. To this need was added the need of Brazilian aviation to replace the MB-326.
The AMX has an aerodynamic layout characterised by the high swept wing configuration and can reach a top speed of 1,000 km/h thanks to its Spey 807 Rolls-Royce engine. In its Italian version, it is equipped with an M61 Vulcan 20 mm cannon and can carry 3,800 kg of offensive armament. The Ghibli was also used in various theatres of operations (Afghanistan, Libya) to carry out reconnaissance missions and to provide tactical support to ground troops as close as possible.
