510002692 - Model kit, 1:48 AB 212 /UH 1N

The UH -1N was developed at the end of the 1960s in a project by the American-based company Bell Helicopter.
In Italy, a similar version is produced under licence by Agusta Westland under the designation AB-212.

The AB-212 is a medium-sized, 2-blade rotor version powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6T turboshaft turbines with 1,342 KW.
As a further development of the 205 model, the main difference lies in its extended fuselage. At the beginning of the new millennium, the AB 212 was massively modernised to increase its operational possibilities.

It was equipped with 2 swivelling 7.62 mm machine guns at the rear, while the defensive equipment was upgraded with anti-missile launchers and additional ceramic and Kevlar armour to protect the crew.
The Italian AB212 with its improved equipment has been used by the ISAF in Afghanistan since 2006.
