Product Description

The Horten Ho 229 is one of the most unusual aeroplanes of the Second World War. Designed on a scale of 1:32, the set corresponds to the size of other aircraft on display in the Historical Collection of the Second World War. The flying wing has a wingspan of 52.5 cm and consists of 953 elements. Especially for this set, we have designed new blocks that perfectly mimic the characteristic nose of the aircraft as well as the air intakes of the pilot's cabin and the engine. The model has access to a cockpit with clock imprints. In the cockpit there is a figure representing a test pilot in a characteristic suit. The pilot has two pieces of headgear: a yellow pilot's cap and a cap with new prints! The model also has characteristic foldable wheels. The blocks are printed in high quality with aircraft markings and details. The floor is made of blocks in a new light blue colour and is also printed with markings. The set includes a plate with the name of the aeroplane.
This futuristic-looking historical aeroplane is a must-have for all history fans and collectors. Build history, brick by brick!

The Horten Ho 229, also known as the Gotha Go 229, was a German experimental jet-powered aeroplane of the Second World War. Classified as a "wonder weapon", it was intended to be one of the projects that would help reverse the unfavourable course of the war for Germany. With its performance, Horten came close to meeting the requirements of the Luftwaffe competition to build an "Amerika Bomber" bomber that could hit targets in the USA! This extraordinary aeroplane is the result of the Horten brothers: Walter and Reimar, who were not engineers but aviation enthusiasts with extremely bold ideas. They specialised in the development of flying wing aircraft. The prototype was originally called the Horten H IX. The aircraft was equipped with two Junkers Jumo 004B turbojet engines. The design of the aircraft was extremely innovative. The wings were delta-shaped and the fuselage was made of wood and composite materials, which reduced radar reflection. Some sources claim that the Horten Ho 229 was the first stealth aeroplane in history. Research conducted after the war confirmed the reduction in radar reflectivity, but was not large enough to consider this project a radar undetectable aircraft. The Ho 229 prototype was built and flown. The end of the war in 1945 interrupted work on this amazing project. The Horten Ho 229 undoubtedly influenced the development of post-war jet aeroplanes in Europe and America. The Horten brothers' design is still surrounded by an aura of mystery, inspiring with its timelessness and modernity and fuelling the imagination of lovers of history, military technology and aviation!
