The pendulum is a stylized construction model, an interactive study guide for the mechanism with the purpose of learning its basics and principles of work. The pendulum is one of the most basic and reliable timekeeping mechanisms. The working principle is based on the constant amplitude oscillation of the model under the gravity (weight) and potential energy (traction) of the rubber band. The rubber band supplies the mechanism of the model and compensates the kinetic energy loss of the pendulum. The device is animated by means of gears with a winding wheel.

The model has an anchor escapement that controls the frequency of the oscillations, a weight, a scape wheel, a gear, a rubber band, a ratchet and a pawl that reduces the operating error. The model has various means to control the frequency of oscillation: the weight of the pendulum, the vertical position of the weight on the pendulum and the tension of the rubber band.
