510002820 - Model kit,1:48 OH-13 Scout Helicopter Korea War
The American Bell OH-13 Sioux is an icon of aviation history. The helicopter with the unmistakable design was developed immediately after the Second World War and distributed to the US Army at the end of the 1940s. The main features of the OH-13 Sioux were the "bubble canopy", the exposed tail boom (made of welded tube), the rigid skid landing gear and the balloon-shaped fuel tanks. The single-rotor helicopter had a three-seat cabin configuration and could reach a top speed of 170 km/h. It was both robust and exceptional. It was both robust and exceptionally reliable. During the Korean War, the OH-13 was used in many different ways and in large numbers, including for enemy observation, advanced reconnaissance and medical evacuation. Even at the beginning of the Vietnam War, the Sioux was still in use as a reconnaissance helicopter.
