510001411 - Model kit, 1:72 A-7E Corsair II
The stand-up model is a replica of the A-7E Corsair II aircraft. The LTV A-7 Corsair II was developed and implemented in the first half of the 1960s to fulfil the specific requirement of the United States Navy to have a new carrier-capable light attack aircraft capable of replacing the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk and the piston-powered Douglas A-1 Skyraider.
The aircraft was developed directly from the Vought F-8 Crusade fighter airframe. The A-7 was characterised by the large frontal air intake under the cabin, by the 35° folding wing to optimise use and storage on aircraft carrier flight decks and by the introduction of a modern head-up display to improve operational effectiveness.
Thanks to its underwing hardpoints, the A-7 could carry an impressive attack load based on conventional bombs, guided bombs such as the Paveway and air-to-ground missiles. The A-7E was the last version produced for the US Navy with improved operational capabilities and the ability to use the Harpoon anti-ship missiles and the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles.
