Product Description

The Heinkel He-111 medium low-wing bomber formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe's bombing divisions in the early years of the Second World War. It was characterised by the introduction of two engines, like many other aircraft of the time with similar characteristics, but also by the introduction of innovative solutions such as the all-metal structure.
With its two Jumo 211 engines, the aircraft was capable of reaching a top speed of 440 km/h and transporting over 2,000 kg of bombs in its internal cargo hold. Easily recognisable by its large glassed-in nose, wing profile and tail skirts, it was frequently used by the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain in 1940 for both daytime bombing raids and night-time "raids" that hit cities and industrial areas hard. The Heinkel He-111 was regularly developed and modified, but soon became obsolete in the course of the war.
