COBI-5744 - 625 PCS 'HC WWII /5744/ ILYUSHIN II 02 SHTURMOVIK MWP
One of the most famous fighter aircraft of the Second World War. Designed and mass-produced in the USSR from 1941. Production of the Il-2 was completed a few years after the war. A total of around 36,000 of these aircraft were built. The first versions were replaced in 1943 by Il-2m3 twin-engine aircraft with more powerful engines and improved armament. The most important improvement was the change in the angle of attack of the wings, which were made of duralumin. They were given a very characteristic shape resembling an "arrow".
Il-2m3 aircraft were the armament of four Polish air attack regiments fighting on the Eastern Front in the spring of 1945. On 1 May 1945, there were 158 Ił-2m3s in the Polish Air Force. From 1949, the Il-2m3 aircraft were gradually withdrawn from service in the Polish Air Force and replaced by more modern Il-10 fighter aircraft. The aircraft on display in the museum was used in the 3rd Air Assault Regiment.
The IŁ-M3 aircraft was designed from 1:32 scale COBI building blocks using new elements. One of the few original aircraft in the open-air exhibition of the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw served as a model. The block model offers many movable elements such as a rotating propeller, movable wing ailerons or wheels with rubber tyres that can be folded into a horizontal position. Details and post-war colours of the aircraft and armament (including missiles) have been reproduced. Chequerboards are used to draw attention to the blue ground. The cockpit, whose canopy has been redesigned, can be opened to accommodate the pilot and gunner figures on the seats. Thanks to a special presentation stand with a sign with the name of the aircraft and a place to attach the figures, the whole set looks great! The figures were developed on the basis of uniforms from the collection of the Polish Army Museum.
A very attractive addition is a historical map showing the borders and name of Poland before the unfavourable territorial exchange with the USSR on 15 February 1951.
The model uses durable prints and historical markings.
The set completes the collection of iconic 1:32 scale aircraft and is aimed at lovers of history, military technology and enthusiasts of block models of the highest quality!
