The thickness of the armour on the front of the hull was up to 250 mm, which gave it excellent protection against most opponents. Jagdtiger production began in 1943 and the first units went to the front in 1944. The Jagdtiger was an impressive tank destroyer. Its enormous firepower and thick armour made it a fearsome opponent. Today it is one of the best-known and best-researched vehicles of the Second World War.
