510101392 - Model Kit,1:72 A-6E Tram Intruder
The floor model is a replica of the A-6E Tran Intruder aircraft. The A-6 Intruder was used as a ground attack aircraft in the mid-1960s to replace the aging aircraft as the propeller-driven A-1 Skyraider and A-3 Skywarrior. The Grumman Corporation developed and designed the A-6A according to the specifications of the US Navy an all-weather medium attack aircraft with two jet engines, which could be operated from the American aircraft carriers. The so-called "Intruder" was characterised by a robust and rugged fuselage and for the two seats side by side cabin configuration for the pilot and the weapons officer. The A-6E was the final attack version of the "Intruder", improved in avionics and attack systems, especially in the version called TRAM, from the acronym of the laser target designation system, allowing more effective execution in all weather "missions and to be more lethal in detecting and suppressing enemy targets. Thanks to its hard points under the wing, the A-6E Intruder could load impressive offensive armament such as conventional bombs, laser-guided Paveway bombs, Harpoon anti-ship missiles and HARM anti-radar missiles. It actively participated in combat operations in the Desert Storm campaign either from ground bases or from US Navy carriers.
