Product Description

The 1:35 scale floor model of the US M-7 Priest howitzer, which was used by the US artillery during the Second World War. After the innovative use of mobile artillery by the German army at the beginning of the conflict, it was generally accepted that artillery pieces needed to be as mobile as tank battalions. The Allies initially mounted their first self-propelled artillery units on half-tracks, but the most effective solution emerged with the introduction of the M7 Priest. Using the hull of the M3 Lee medium tank, the M7 was armed with a 105mm M2A1 howitzer. It was first used by British troops in 1942, who nicknamed it the "Priest" because the machine gun was located in front of the vehicle, which resembled a church pulpit. Robust and reliable, it had ample ammunition and provided effective indirect support fire. It was used by both the American Army and the US Marines on all fronts during the war.
