Product Description

The standing model is a replica of the German paratrooper unit from the Second World War. The "paratroopers" were merged into the Luftwaffe's combat units during the war in order to achieve better coordination with the air forces. The conquest of Crete during Operation Merkur in May 1941 was one of the greatest successes of German paratroopers. However, casualties were so high that their deployment was often limited to an elite infantry role rather than airborne troops. In March 1944, the paratroopers of General Kurt Student's 1st Division, holding their ground among the ruins of Montecassino Monastery, vigorously resisted the advancing Allies. Their resistance was so fierce that they were nicknamed the "Green Devils".
