The floor model is a replica of the Kfz. 69, which was also called a Schwimmwagen. As the Volkswagen 82 (Kubelwagen) proved to be very successful during the campaign in Poland, it was necessary to produce more and more vehicles. Later, Ferdinand Porsche developed an amphibious version of this car called Schwimmwagen. The light weight of this vehicle (about 1/2 ton) made it possible to cross muddy areas, as only two men were sufficient to keep this vehicle moving. For reconnaissance and liaison missions, it was often necessary to cross water, which was impossible with other vehicles.
