The floor model is a replica of the Bistrol "Beaufighter" MK.6, which was one of the most successful and widespread twin-engine fighter types in the Second World War. The first Beaufighter of the series was produced in 1940. By the end of 1941 a much more powerful engine was fitted and this was one of the features of the MK.6 variant. In total, more than 5900 Beaufighters of all types were produced. These were used over Europe, the Mediterranean as well as in North Africa and the Middle East.
