300061090 - Model Kit,1:48 US Rep. P-47D Thunderbolt Bubblet, 14 years and up
The floor model is a replica of the US Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Bubbletops. In May 1941, as the war raged in Europe, a single-engine fighter of more than 4 tons made its first flight. This fighter was the XP-47B, a prototype of the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, of which a total of 15,683 units were built. The P-47D was by far the most built variant of the fighter. It was equipped with an R-2800-59 engine that could produce up to 2300 hp with the emergency water injection system switched on. Many subtypes of the P-47D were produced, designated D-1 to D-40, but the first versions were called "Razorback" because of their sharp tail wing.
