Product Description

Between 1941 and 1942, the M3 self-propelled gun was the backbone of the US anti-tank division. Consisting of the M3 half-track, with a mounted 75 mm 36 calibre anti-tank gun, it proved ineffective in fighting German tanks. A more manoeuvrable fighter tank with increased firepower was required.

In November 1941, a prototype T35 Jagdpanzer was produced. It officially entered service in June 1942 under the designation M10 and was the first full-track fighter tank of the US Army. The M10 had the lower chassis of the M4A2 Sherman, but was fitted with a lower, newly designed upper hull. Designed for maximum manoeuvrability, the M10's armour was relatively thin.
To compensate for this weakness, the upper hull was provided with many slopes, resulting in an increase in bullet deflection. In the rotating open turret sat a 50 calibre M7 3 inch gun with 76.2 mm. M62 armour-piercing shells (APC) were fired, which could penetrate 88 mm armour at a distance of one kilometre with an impact angle of up to 30 degrees.

The M10 was powered by a GMC 6064 or 6064D (2-stroke) water-cooled diesel engine with approx. 280kW (approx. 375hp). The M10 thus reached a top speed of 48 km/h. Series production ran from September 1942 to December 1943, a total of 6706 vehicles were produced.
