510003624 - Model kit, 1:24 Mercedes-Benz 190E
The Mercedes-Benz 190E, introduced in 1982, marked a turning point in the production of the renowned Stuttgart-based car manufacturer.
Although the so-called "190" was the entry-level version of the Mercedes-Benz product range, it nevertheless contained important stylistic and technical innovations. Its design, with a successful blend of style and elegance, also influenced the cars in the higher segments of future Mercedes-Benz production. From a technical point of view, the "190" was ahead of its time: longitudinally mounted front engine, rear-wheel drive and disc brakes on all four wheels, McPherson independent suspension with coil springs at the front and a space-link rear suspension. The first "190s" were available with two different petrol engines: with carburettor or in the 190E version with fuel injection. Shortly afterwards, the 2.3 16V sports version was introduced, which was also used in sporting brand competitions such as the "Nürburgring Champions Race Cup" in 1984, in which famous drivers of the time took part.
