Product Description

Use the COBI building blocks to build a model of the legendary German aircraft carrier Graf Zeppelin. The model was designed in the standard scale of 1:300. The record-size set of 3,136 elements offers many hours of exciting building. This is a new version with improvements in the form of a new colour of brown bricks on the deck. The structure of the chimney has also changed. The high quality prints used accurately reproduce the painting of the deck and details of the World War II era ship. The prints do not wear out even with intensive use. For the first time on a COBI, a working aircraft lift has been designed directly on board. Using a button in the invisible lower part of the fuselage, you can raise and lower the lift with the aircraft on it. The model comes with 8 block micro levels made in new colour versions. The set also includes a special transparent block which, when attached to the base, can imitate an aircraft taking off.

The Graf Zeppelin aircraft carrier can be displayed on the display stand included in the set, which includes a sign with the model's name and scale. This advanced and exclusive collector's set is sure to please fans of the navy, history and modelling, large and small.

Graf Zeppelin is the only aircraft carrier in the history of Germany. Construction began on 28 December 1936 in Kiel. At the behest of the powers that be, work was halted in 1943 despite construction progress of over 90%. This was due to the withdrawal of all large units after the Battle of the Barents Sea. The carrier was towed to Stettin, where useful equipment was dismantled. Construction was never completed. At the beginning of 1945, fearing the advance of the Red Army, the carrier was partially sunk and shelled by artillery. In the summer of 1945, the raised and temporarily sealed ship was incorporated into the USSR Navy. However, it was not intended for refurbishment. In 1947, it served as a target ship and was sunk in the Baltic Sea. In 2006, the shipwreck was located 55 km north of Władysławowo. It lies at a depth of 87 m.
