LUND0014 - Amritsar: The Golden Temple, for 1-4 players, from 14 years (DE edition)
The city of Amritsar in India is home to a Golden Temple - Harmandir Sahib. This spectacular structure is the highest shrine of the Sikh religion and one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the world. After the temple had been destroyed several times, Maharajah Ranjil Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire in India, had it rebuilt in the 19th century, using marble and copper and covering the upper floors with gold leaf. This is where the name Golden Temple comes from.
In the worker placement game Amritsar: The Golden Temple, you take on the roles of donor supporters who help the Maharaja rebuild the Golden Temple over three decades. Use the classic Mancala mechanism to deploy workers and your own elephants to perform various actions. Your goal is to donate as much material as possible for the construction sections of the temple and thereby gain more prestige than the competition. At the end of the third decade, the person with the most prestige points wins this elegant and challenging Eurogame.
