The armoured personnel carrier Sd.Kfz. 251 was an armoured half-track vehicle used by the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. Powered by a Maybach 6-cylinder petrol engine, the Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251 reached a speed of up to 55 km/h even off-road. The armoured personnel carrier was produced in large numbers and mainly used to transport armoured infantry. During the war, however, several versions were developed to meet different military requirements. The "Krankenpanzerwagen" 251/8 was used near the front. It could transport up to eight seated casualties or four seated casualties and two stretchers as well as the necessary medical equipment.
